WARE Takes Pride in DEI

Wayne Action for Racial Equality sees diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) through a lens of pride. We encourage all people to express their identities as they choose and to honor those around them to do the same. We embrace diversity, because we know there is no shame in our identities be they based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin as protected by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

We are proud that the Civil Rights Act is the law of our nation, because it exists to protect people from discrimination based on their identities. We understand that the intent of the Act is to use equity to right past wrongs to end all discrimination. We know it is still necessary to apply equitable means to protect identities that were so dangerous to embrace in the recent past that they were actively hidden (i.e. lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, queer and more). We understand that it is still necessary to apply equitable means to protect the vulnerable and those people presented with physical and mental challenges in order that they may pursue happiness.

We believe that inclusion not exclusion is the way our nation shares its benefits and opportunities with people of all identities, ethnicities and cultures. Throughout 2025 and far into the future, we will continue our work to honor diversity, promote equity and exercise inclusion in all that we do. At Wayne Action for Racial Equality, we open our arms to all and invite anyone who loves diversity, equity and inclusion to join us.
